After a reverend declined to baptize her kid, who was born before she and her partner got married, a Mississippi lady claimed she felt “shamed,” according to the SunHerald .

According to the report, the mother, Kamri Mclendon, described her experience in an Facebook post last month and claimed that incidents “like this are why young people are terrified to attend to church.”

I’ll be the first to say that I have sinned and committed crimes in the past. but how did my attempt to give my daughter to Jesus end up with us being humiliated for being unmarried and young parents? said the post.

Mclendon claimed that once her “baby dedication” was verified, the pastor of the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, where she has been a member since she was a young girl, wrote her a letter.

According to the post, Warren stated in the letter dated September 15 that “I am aware that you and the baby’s father are living together in sin; the kid was conceived before the parents were married.” “The granny shares a home with a sinful guy. The father and you haven’t attended our church on a regular basis.

The letter said, “it would set an example for our Youth and children” if the church performed the event.

According to its website , the church in Sumrall, Mississippi only supports monogamous heterosexual couples who are married, according to The Herald. The reverend’s letter that broke Mclendon’s heart was attacked in the post’s comments section.

Mclendon added that the superintendent met with the pastor and resolved the problem in a follow-up to her Facebook post.
