IN FACT, WEARING A MASK INSIDE WAS REQUIRED.
It turns out that the COVID safety precautions were taken extremely carefully by the event staff. Everyone had to be an had to show proof of vaccination or a recent negative test to get a paper wristband that was bright orange and had to be worn the entire time the attendee was at SDCC.
The San Diego Convention Center was surrounded by a number of security personnel and event employees who painstakingly verified everyone’s wristbands before allowing them to pass.
Additionally, I observed employees advising visitors to don masks before entering the convention hall.
