The family of Bill Paxton tells the court of their intention to settle the LA hospital’s wrongful death lawsuit.

After Paxton passed away from a stroke following heart surgery in February 2017, the actor’s family informed a court of their intention to settle a wrongful death lawsuit they had brought against a Los Angeles hospital and the doctor who performed the procedure.

On February 14, 2017, Paxton had corrective surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; 11 days later, he experienced an aortic aneurysm . On February 25, 2017, he passed away at the age of 61.

In a statement on behalf of the Paxton family, attorneys Bruce Broillet and Steve Heimberg stated that “the case has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties.” The settlement’s terms are kept private.

The Paxton family sued the clinic and Dr. Ali Khoynezhad in 2018 on the grounds that Paxton’s surgeon had the necessary experience to do the procedure and also utilized an unnecessary “high risk and atypical surgical method.”
