The famous autumnal film debuted on CBS in 1966 together with A Charlie Brown Christmas. The two films were broadcast on the station for many years before being transferred, in 2000 and 2001, to ABC. All of the Peanut specials’ rights were acquired by Apple in 2018, and in 2020, Apple TV became the exclusive place to stream the movies.

PBS was given permission to broadcast the specials in 2021 through a deal with the streamer. However, PBS stated that it will not be airing the Halloween show this year since it no longer holds the rights.

Unfortunately, PBS lacks the rights to broadcast the Peanuts specials this year. This Halloween, each of us must keep an eye out for the Great Pumpkin in a different pumpkin patch.
